A Combination of Human Strains of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria, with Bifodogenic Growth Stimulant Propio-Fidus™.

Add To Cart

Symbiotique® provides 30 billion probiotic colony-forming units (CFUs) per serving, with 15 billion CFUs of the bifido-promoting growth stimulant Propionibacterium freudenreichii (Propio-Fidus™) per serving.

Propio-Fidus™ is a patented combination of two strains of Propionibacterium freudenreichii that has many characteristics that may modulate the growth of endogenous bifidobacteria:

  • This complex is unique in that it is able to selectively increase bifidobacteria levels in the body by as much as 3000%.
  • Propio-Fidus™ has the ability to regenerate bifidobacteria levels without unwanted side effects such as flatulence and bloating.
  • By producing bifidogenic growth stimulant (BGS), Propio-Fidus™ is specific to bifidobacteria.
  • Propio-Fidus™ is also resistant to stomach acids and bile salts.
  • Propio-Fidus™ utilises the metabolic end products of other bacteria, such as lactic acid, to produce the antifungal short-chain fatty acid propionic acid.

Bifidobacteria are the key probiotic strains for infants and the elderly. This powder format suits both groups well, as it is easily added to drinks.

A Swedish study found that atopy was positively correlated to the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) and with the administration of antibiotics during the first two years of life (Alm et al., 1999). Particularly convincing are the dose-response relationships; i.e., multiple courses of antibiotic treatment were found to be associated with higher allergy prevalence. In addition, the study found that treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics appears to be more likely associated with allergy development than ordinary penicillin (Farooqi & Hopkin, 1998).

It is prudent, therefore, to recommend a probiotic during and after antibiotics and during vaccination programmes.

Target Client:

Men, women, children, and the elderly who need support for immunity, food poisoning, overcoming food allergies, or during and after vaccination and antibiotic treatments.

Recommended Dosage:

For adults, add 1 level teaspoon (3 g) to your breakfast cereal, juice, or water. Consume once or twice daily.
